The Governor on the recommendation of the Supervisor of Elections has appointed a returning officer to preside over the 2024 general elections. She is Miss Edith Delores Duberry.
Miss Duberry is from the prestigious village of Cork Hill. She has been employed by the Ministry of Education for 37 years and is a professional educator. Throughout her teaching career, she held positions such as class teacher, head teacher, acting education officer, and vice principal at Montserrat Secondary School. She pursued her education at the University of Sheffield, the University of New Castle-Upon-Tyne, and the Cyril Potter College of Education.
Miss Duberry is a community-spirited individual who is a member of the Montserrat Union of Teachers, the Montserrat National Trust, the Montserrat Branch of the British Red Cross, and the Golden Years Foundation. She takes pleasure in her roles as a pastoral committee secretary, Sunday school superintendent, and class instructor at the Bethesda Methodist Church.
She consistently exhibits her abilities in the following areas: crochet, embroidery, poetry, narrative, drama, and calypso commentaries.
For eighteen years, she has served as the producer and director of her radio program, Family Reading Time, and as the presenter of the ECCB Children’s Connection Program.
Miss Duberry has been associated with elections for over 40 years and has extensive expertise in the field. In 1991, she performed the role of returning officer. She has also performed in the roles of an enumerator, leader of an enumeration team, presiding officer, and poll clerk.
